Project Title: Mim
Role: Co-Game Designer | Lead Artist
Mim is a 2D adventure platformer game where a young lost seedling journeys through a dark, mystical underground world to find her mother.
It is an atmospheric, third-person exploration game developed as my MFA Thesis at the NYU Game Center. The project explores themes of curiosity and isolation within a dreamlike underworld. As both Co-Designer, I focused on creating a seamless synergy between the game’s emotional narrative and its visual landscape.
Our main goal was to evoke a sense of wonder and quiet contemplation.
I co-developed the lore and the "emotional map" of the game, ensuring that every area the player explores contributes to the overarching story of the protagonist's journey.
As a Co-Game Designer, I took the responsibility for bridging the gap between art and play. I co-designed the core gameplay mechanics that rewarded exploration and environmental puzzle-solving, with my thesis partner. I created layouts of the 3D space to guide player flow using lighting and visual cues.
